When you say “Nope!” to personal-care and cleaning products tested in rabbits’ eyes or poured down guinea pigs’ throats, you’ll be saving some of the 300,000 animals exploited in cosmetics testing for the international market in China. You’ll also be saying “No way!” to the painful Draize eye irritancy test, which leaves rabbits’ eyes ulcerated, hemorrhaging, or blinded. Shampoos alone have dozens of ingredients, so anything labeled “cruelty-free” and “vegan” avoids supporting many inhumane tests. Well done!
Simply by not eating animals (or their secretions), you’ll save nearly 200 lives a year. You’ll also prevent their beaks and horns from being cut off and their beloved offspring from being torn away from them. You won’t be supporting their transport through ice
Never dress like a thief. Stay away from anything made from leather, wool, alpaca, angora, mohair, fur, or any other animal fibers. You’ll be saving animals from crying out in pain as their hair or skin is torn off and preventing their eventual slaughter. Not buying a cashmere jacket saves six goats!

Just by not giving money to a pet store or breeder, you’re saving dogs, cats, and other animals from being bred for distorted physical features that cause them chronic health problems. And your choice gives a lucky animal a better chance of getting adopted from a shelter into a loving home! While breeders crank out litters, more than 70 million homeless animals struggle to survive in the US alone. Opting to “adopt, not shop” saves a mother cat or dog from a breeding mill, changes everything for the lucky animal who joins your family, and sets a good example for others.

When you decide never to ride an elephant, swim with dolphins, take a selfie with a tiger or parrot, visit SeaWorld, dip your feet into a fish pedicure tank, or stop at a roadside zoo, you’ll be helping to spare those animals a lifetime of misery and a horrible death. At just one of these hellholes, Garold Wayne Interactive Zoological Park, 23 tiger cubs died within a seven-month period. Not buying a ticket is a vote for animal

experiment on animals! Not sending a check to your alma mater or any charities that test on animals represents an effortless way to reject cruel experiments, such as Johns Hopkins University’s barbaric tests on owls, who endure surgical implantation of electrodes in their brains and then are blasted with loud noises for up to 12 hours straight before finally being killed. Up to 60 barn owls are slated for use in the current set of these painful experiments.
