Friend’s Corner: Rescue Story of a Common Wolf Snake at Miraj: On 20 th July 2019 at 12.30 noon, Mr. Kiran Naik (CF & ARO), Animal Rahat, received a call from Mr. Ganesh Sathe regarding a poisonous Snake Viper. He wanted to get rid of him as soon as possible. We arrived at that place and observe the situation. After observing the situation, it was noticed that, Municipal Corporation employees were cleaning the lake named Ganesh Talab. While cleaning there, they saw a closed plastic container and there was something turning in it. They took the container in their hand and tried to observe what is in that container. It was containing a snake. They had never seen that type of snake before. They thought that it must be a poisonous snake. They were all scared, so they called Mr. Kiran Naik. Someone might have caught the snake and have thrown into the water because of insufficient or no knowledge about snake. After observing the snake, Kiran reached to a conclusion that this is a non‐poisonous Common Wolf snake. The container was closed tightly; the snake had difficulty in breathing, as the container was not having any holes for ventilation. Immediately Mr. Kiran Naik placed the Common Wolf Snake in another well ventilated container and freed him in nature without wasting time. The common Wolf snake guessed a bit, and it disappeared into the bushes. After that Mr. Kiran took a small session for all the Municipal Corporation staff present over there, about the snakes and clarified their misunderstanding. He also praised the staff for saving the snake’s life.
