After decades of PETA runway disruptions, naked protests, and pressure from kind people worldwide, Oscar de la Renta has finally banned fur. And so have Valentino, Kering (owner of Saint Laurent and Brioni), and Canadian outerwear brands Moose Knuckles, Mackage, and SOIA&KYO.
When PETA showed Express what was taking place at one of the world’s largest alpaca farms – frightened animals crying out and vomiting as they were beaten, tied down, violently shorn, and left bleeding from deep cuts – the massive fashion retailer, which has 600-plus stores, banned alpaca fleece. More good news for alpacas: Home-furnishings giant Williams Sonoma, retailers Johnston & Murphy and Journeys, and high-end fashion company Vince Holding Corp. have all followed suit. PETA supporters wearing alpaca, sheep, goat, and goose costumes are keeping the pressure on Urban Outfitters’ brands, which include Anthropologie and Free People, to stop selling clothing and accessories made of animal-derived materials. Take Action Now Join in! Go to PETA.org.au/UrbanOutfitters to demand that the company sell fashion made with compassion. WIN! EXPRESS BANS ALPACA FLEECE AFTER PETA EXPOSÉ
PETA India’s relentless campaigning has paid off: The Great Prabhat, Olympic, and other animal-exploiting circuses have folded their tents and closed! Now, PETA India is pushing for a nationwide ban on animals in circuses and an end to cruel elephant rides, like those at Amber Fort. Sanya Malhotra, star of the Netflix black comedy Pagglait , is featured in a new ad urging compassion for elephants forced to carry tourists around under the blazing hot sun, trained through violence, kept shackled, beaten with iron-tipped bullhooks, forced to work while injured, and denied everything that gives their lives meaning. Take Action Now Never attend animal acts or go for a ride on any animal. Visit PETA.org.au/Circus to urge circuses to stop exploiting animals and PETA.org.au/AmberFort to ask India’s minister of tourism to end all elephant rides. Circuses Call It Quits! Now It’s Time to End Elephant Rides

But wait, there’s more! Israel has become the first country to ban fur sales. And in Estonia, where PETA Germany supports local animal rights groups, fur farming will soon be banned, a first in the Baltics. In Afghanistan, orphans and widows were glad to accept unwanted furs donated to PETA by former fur-wearers who have had a change of heart.
One giant leap for human kind : After hearing from PETA, Jean-Patrice Keka Ohemba Okese, founder of the Swiss-backed Congolese space exploration enterprise Développement Tous Azimuts, canceled plans to launch a guinea pig named Galaxionaut into space and banned all space experiments on animals at the company, earning him a PETA Lifesaver Award. Win! TRESemmé Cuts Tests on Animals
Turkeys have been known to fall asleep in people’s laps, sway along to music, and follow humans around like puppies. But 46 million of these gentle, sensitive birds get the chop every Thanksgiving in the US alone. Everyone can take a cue from Mayim Bialik, Ava DuVernay,
Speciesist vivisectors who torture and kill animals in laboratories also conduct racist experiments like one at the University of Illinois– Chicago in which mice were forced to threaten or fight each other in an attempt to mimic socioeconomic struggles endured by “urban [African American] communities." After PETA and thousands of supporters objected to this outrage, the feds cut its funding. At the same time, PETA’s exhibit “Without Consent” launched on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. It shows that vivisectors used vulnerable human subjects until they were forced to stop and that they now conduct cruel experiments on animals and will continue until kind people stop that, too. It also challenges US government institutions to switch to ethical, modern, non-animal research methods.
After huddling with PETA, iconic hair-care brand TRESemmé rooted out all tests on animals and is now testing its shampoos, conditioners, and other products in the test tube and on consenting humans. Shoppers can now find TRESemmé in PETA’s Global Beauty Without Bunnies database of more than 5,600 animal test–free companies.

I need my ssssspace ! That was a PETA “snake’s” message to Petco, which is notorious for selling reptiles to shoppers who aren’t prepared to care for them properly. Captive snakes are routinely confined to minuscule tanks that prevent them from stretching out fully, a basic biological need. According to one study, 75% of “pet” reptiles die within one year, often from captivity-induced stress and illnesses.
